Chinese New Year Holiday, Ancol Flocked by Visitors

"We have a Forum for Interfaith Harmony (FKUB) as a platform to channel aspirations and provide input. Furthermore, this activity serves as a forum for networking between the local government, temple administrators, and the community in celebration of this year's Chinese New Year," he said, Tuesday (2/17).

Rano explained that the Indonesian Supreme Council of Confucianism (MATAKIN) adopted the theme "If There Is Justice, There Is No Problem of Poverty." This emphasizes the importance of controlling and eradicating poverty.

According to him, during this year's Chinese New Year celebrations, the Jakarta Provincial Government also held a series of Chinese New Year Festivals from February 12-17. These activities served as an inclusive space, emphasizing that Chinese-Indonesian identity and culture are an integral part of Jakarta.

"Tonight, I'm heading to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout to witness the transition from Chinese New Year celebrations to the holy month of Ramadan. This is a form of cultural acculturation that we're all embracing, because this is the diversity we should celebrate," he stated.

Rano added that Muslims will soon begin observing Ramadan. He emphasized that the difference in the start of fasting should not be a problem.

"We wish all our brothers and sisters who celebrate Chinese New Year a Happy New Year and a Happy Ramadan," he said.
